Universidad Católica del Ecuador made the trip count with a 2-0 win over Deportivo Cuenca in Serie A. The visitors took control through a first-half strike from Mauricio Alonso and sealed it with his second shortly after the break.
Mauricio Alonso opened the scoring in the 34th minute, converting after a pass from Facundo Martinez. He then doubled the lead in the 50th minute, finishing unassisted to put the result beyond doubt. Facundo Martinez was booked in the 55th minute.
Alonso's brace was the decisive factor, but the away side also dominated the shot count, firing 22 attempts to Deportivo Cuenca's 11, with 7 on target. Despite having less possession at 45%, Universidad Católica created more chances and took their opportunities.
