Universidad Católica del Ecuador and Aucas shared the points in a 1-1 Serie A draw. The hosts had much more of the ball and created the clearer chances, but could not turn that dominance into a winning lead.
José Fajardo put Universidad Católica ahead in the 45th minute. Aucas equalised in the 69th minute through Michael Carcelén, who finished after Alex Zova's assist, and neither side found a winner after that. The match included four yellow cards, shown to Mateo Burdisso, Daniel Clavijo, Facundo Martinez and Santiago Morales.
The numbers explain the result. Universidad Católica had 61% possession and four big chances but missed three of them, while Aucas scored from their one big chance and had five shots on target to the hosts' two. Aucas were the more clinical side, and that was enough to earn them a draw.
