Roberto Alvarado put Guadalajara ahead in the third minute, with Hugo Camberos providing the assist. Pachuca pressed for an equaliser and eventually got it through Salomón Rondón in the 79th minute, with no assist recorded. Four bookings punctuated the contest: Oussama Idrissi, Francisco Venegas, Carlos Sánchez and Andrés Arroyo were all cautioned.
Pachuca had the clearer volume of chances, firing 17 shots to Guadalajara's nine and putting seven on target to four. Guadalajara's goalkeeper made six saves to keep his side in front for so long, while possession went to the visitors at 57%. The expected goals were close, 1.53 to 1.32, but Pachuca's attacking pressure was the defining feature of the second half.
