Universidad Católica del Ecuador beat Técnico Universitario 5-0 in Serie A. They took control early, scoring twice in the first 12 minutes, and never gave the visitors a way back.
José Fajardo opened the scoring in the seventh minute and Rafael Chila added a second five minutes later. Fajardo struck again on 34, assisted by Darwin Nazareno, and completed his hat-trick on 55 after Azarías Londoño's pass. Londoño then scored himself in the 90th minute, with Jhon Chancellor the provider.
Fajardo's hat-trick was the standout performance, and Católica's 66 per cent possession reflected their control. Técnico Universitario actually had more total shots, ten to seven, but only three were on target and the home goalkeeper made three saves. Stiwar Mena was sent off in the 90th minute after receiving a second yellow.
