Macará left it late in the first half but made their pressure count, winning 2-0 away at Técnico Universitario. The visitors took the lead just after the half-hour mark and doubled it early in the second half, leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.
Matías Miranda opened the scoring in the 31st minute from a Denilson Bolanos assist, slotting home to make it 0-1. Franco Posse then added a second in the 61st minute with an unassisted strike to put the game beyond reach. Técnico Universitario pushed forward but could not find a way past the Macará defence.
Possession was almost even—51% to 49%—and total shots were close, 8 to 10, but Macará were far more clinical with their two shots on target both finding the net. Técnico Universitario managed only one shot on target, which was saved, and missed their only big chance of the match.
