Macará left with all three points after a 2-1 win away to Barcelona SC, built on a first-half double from Mateo Viera. The visitors struck twice before the break and then held on as Barcelona SC pressed for an equaliser.
Viera opened the scoring in the 15th minute from Agustin Campana’s assist and added a second in the 37th, this time set up by Martín Tello. Barcelona SC pulled one back through Sergio Díaz in the 54th minute, assisted by Matias Gonzalo Lugo, but could not find a leveller. Jhonny Quiñónez was booked shortly after the second goal and Franco Posse saw yellow in stoppage time.
The numbers tell a story of Barcelona SC having more of the ball – 63% possession and 481 accurate passes – and more total shots (16 to 14), yet they managed only one shot on target. Macará, with 37% possession, registered seven shots on target and took their big chances, converting two of two big chances. Barcelona SC’s goalkeeper made four saves but their side still came up short.
