Today's NHL predictions from the CheckLive AI engine — every game on tonight's slate, rated on win probability, totals (over/under), and puck line. Updated hourly as lineups confirm and goalie starters announce.
Each prediction uses the four-pillar framework: CheckForm (last 10 games goals for/against, PP/PK %, save %), CheckSkill (divisional standing, roster depth, last 3 seasons), CheckMental (home/away splits, playoff race context, schedule fatigue from back-to-backs and travel), and a Composite weighted 45% / 35% / 20% with a +3 home-ice bonus.
The AI selects the most reliable market per game: lopsided matchups get 1X2 or puck line on the favourite, balanced contests get Double Chance, high-scoring projections (xG sum ≥ 6) get Total Over 5.5 or BTTS, defensive matchups get Total Under.
A note on hockey vs football validation: our 50.35% accuracy backtest is football-specific (2,000 matches, top 50 leagues). The same AI architecture runs on hockey, but the strict accuracy figure has not yet been validated on a hockey backtest. Treat Confidence™ as a signal-strength indicator until we publish the hockey backtest.
How CheckLive Analyses NHL Games
Same engine as our football and basketball predictions, with hockey-specific inputs.
- CheckForm (recent performance): goals for and against across the last 10 games, power-play conversion percentage, penalty-kill percentage, team save percentage, current win/loss streak.
- CheckSkill (long-term class): divisional and conference standing, points-per-game pace, roster depth (top-6 forwards and top-4 defencemen availability), star player ice time, historical class across the last 3 seasons.
- CheckMental (pressure context): home/away splits, playoff race tightness, recent trade-deadline activity, key injury news, schedule fatigue (back-to-back games, west-coast/east-coast travel).
These three feed into a Composite score (45% Skill + 35% Form + 20% Mental + 3 home-ice). The composite gap between the two teams runs through a logistic sigmoid → win probability. The match profile (lopsided, balanced, high-scoring, low-scoring, defensive) determines which market the AI surfaces as the top pick.
Overtime and shootouts. On balanced matchups we separate "regulation winner" from "winner including OT" — the two can diverge. For shootouts specifically, win probability shifts toward 50/50 regardless of underlying skill gap, because shootouts are effectively a lottery. We account for this in Confidence™ via a Mental adjustment.
