Manta FC beat Barcelona SC 2-0 in Serie A, taking their chances against a Barcelona side that dominated the ball. Joaquín Vergés put the home side ahead in the 16th minute and Jose Enrique Angulo sealed the win with a second goal in the 72nd.
Vergés finished from Jefferson Troya's assist to give Manta an early lead, and they protected it through a first half that saw four yellow cards shared between the teams. Barcelona pushed possession in the second half but could not find a breakthrough, and Angulo made the points safe 18 minutes from time.
Barcelona had 64% of possession and made 352 accurate passes to Manta's 168, yet Manta were far more clinical. The home side had four shots on target to Barcelona's two and created two big chances, scoring from both, while their opponents could not create a single clear opportunity.
