NK Varaždin beat NK Rudeš 2-0 in 1. HNL, a result that reflected their control of the match. Varaždin had 56% possession and created the better chances, with an expected-goals total of 1.93 against Rudeš's 0.36.
The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Aleksa Latković scored from Ivan Mamut's pass. Ivan Canjuga doubled the lead twelve minutes later, applying the finish to Matej Vuk's assist.
The shot counts were closer than the scoreline suggests – 11 to 9 overall, 3-3 on target – but Varaždin's finishing was the difference. They turned two of their three on-target attempts into goals, while Rudeš squandered their one big chance.
