HJK edged out TPS 1-0 in a tight Veikkausliiga encounter, the only goal coming early in the first half. The home side had to dig deep to hold onto the lead as TPS pushed for an equaliser.
Santeri Haarala scored the decisive goal in the 16th minute, finishing from close range to give HJK the advantage. The match then settled into a scrappy affair, with neither side able to create many clear chances.
Both teams saw players booked – Alexander Ring for HJK in the 32nd minute and Timo Zaal for TPS in the 69th – reflecting the competitive nature of the contest. HJK defended resolutely to secure the three points.
