HJK secured a 2-1 victory over VPS in the Veikkausliiga, thanks to a second-half winner from Teemu Pukki. The home side took the lead just before the break but were pegged back immediately after half-time before Pukki struck with 15 minutes to play.
Santeri Haarala opened the scoring for HJK in the 45th minute, assisted by Liam Möller, to give the hosts a slender advantage at the interval. However, VPS equalised straight after the restart through Simon Lindholm in the 46th minute, setting up a tense second period.
Teemu Pukki's 75th-minute goal proved the difference, reclaiming the lead for HJK. The match saw four yellow cards in total, with Lindholm, Mouhamed Gueye and both sides picking up cautions in a competitive encounter.
