Bondár A. vs Charaeva A. Prediction by Liza Hysong

Anna Bondár arrives in decent shape. Her last outing was a hard-fought three-setter against Renata Zarazúa, where she lost the opening set badly but flipped the match completely, winning 70 points to 62 and holding serve in 8 of 11 games. What stands out is her first-serve reliability: she landed 97% of first deliveries in that match and won 62% of those points, adding three aces with just one double fault. She also strung together eight straight points at one stage, which shows she can build momentum quickly once she settles. Before that, she pushed Madison Keys all the way in a long battle, actually winning more service points (71 to 65) and converting the same number of break chances as her opponent, though seven double faults and a weak first-serve percentage (73%) made life harder. Her clean straight-sets win over Linda Havlickova was arguably her best all-round display: she was sharper off the ground, made fewer unforced errors (17 to 33) and strung five games in a row at one point. The warning sign is the 6-4, 6-3 loss to Cristina Bucsa, where she saved only 6 of 8 break points and failed to convert a single break chance. Her main weakness remains second-serve consistency, winning under 50% of those points in several recent matches. Overall, though, she has been competitive in nearly every match and her serve numbers have trended upwards.

Anastasia Charaeva has been busy and has shown flashes of real quality, but her form is uneven. Her most recent win over Sofia Kenin was gritty: she recovered from dropping the first set, took a tiebreak, and won 52 return points to her opponent's 45. She fired eight aces in that match, a clear strength, and saved 10 of 16 break points under heavy pressure. The recurring problem is the double fault count. She served nine doubles against Anna Blinkova, nine more against You Xiaodi, and six against Kenin. That instability costs her free points and puts extra strain on her second serve, where she has been winning well under half the points in most matches (43% vs Blinkova, 32% vs You). Her second-serve landing rate of 70% against Blinkova simply is not sustainable at this level. Her sharpest performance came in the straight-sets win over Elina Avanesyan, 6-2, 6-3, where she won 100% of her second-serve return points and broke five times. On the other side, the 6-4, 6-4 defeat to Susan Bandecchi showed her limits when the serve misfires, as she was outscored 75-63 in total points. She competes well and rarely gets blown off court, but her level swings from game to game.
