Tampereen Ilves skated out of Rauma with a 2-0 regulation win, breaking a scoreless deadlock with two third-period goals. The clean road sheet was the difference as Lukko could not solve the Ilves defensive structure.
Through two periods the game stayed 0-0, with neither side finding the net. Austin Strand broke the tie at 48:00 with an assist from Aleks Haatanen, and Tony Sund doubled the lead at 51:00 off Luke Henman's feed. That three-minute burst decided a tight contest that had produced no scoring through the first forty minutes.
The two third-period goals were the only offense of the night, and they were enough. Strand and Sund each contributed a goal, giving Ilves a regulation shutout win on the road.
