HK Poprad took it 4-3 over Vlci Zilina, settling a 3-3 regulation tie in a shootout won 3-2. Neither side scored in overtime, so the game came down to the skills competition after 60 minutes of trading punches.
The opening period was scoreless before the game broke open in the second: Peter Galambos put Zilina ahead at 23 on a Brant Harris feed, Adam Dvorak answered at 31, and Marek Korencik restored the lead at 40, again with Harris assisting, for 1-2 after two. Poprad flipped it early in the third, with Tyler Coulter tying it at 41 and Bohumil Jank making it 3-2 at 43, before Kamil Walega, set up by Michal Cajkovsky, pulled Zilina even at 55.
Coulter was the game's central figure with a goal and two assists, feeding Dvorak's equalizer and Jank's go-ahead marker. Harris matched the assist output for Zilina with two helpers, but the shootout margin belonged to Poprad.
