NK Celje beat FC Ararat-Armenia 2-0 in the Champions League third qualifying round thanks to two late goals. After a goalless evening, Celje struck twice in three minutes to take control of the tie.
Yaya Dukuly broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, converting Milot Avdyli's assist, and Benjamin Verbič added a second two minutes later. Ararat-Armenia had kept Celje at bay for most of the match but could not hold on.
Celje's pressure told in the end: they registered eight shots on target to Ararat's three and won 12 corners to nine, even though possession was evenly shared at 50-50. The late double from Dukuly and Verbič settled a contest that had been short on clear chances.
