Maitland FC took the points with a 2-1 win over Edgeworth Eagles in the NPL Northern NSW. They led from the 28th minute, doubled their advantage early in the second half and then held on after the visitors pulled one back.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 28th minute and made it 2-0 in the 47th. Edgeworth responded in the 58th minute to set up a tense finish, but Maitland saw the game out.
Edgeworth had the greater share of possession, 52% to 48%, and won six corners to Maitland's three, while both teams managed two shots on target. Maitland were the more clinical where it mattered, turning their chances into the winning result.
