Vissel Kobe beat Cerezo Osaka 1-0 in the J.League, with Ren Komatsu's 71st-minute goal settling a tight contest. The hosts were out-passed but carried the greater threat in front of goal.
After a goalless first half, Komatsu, who had been booked in the 53rd minute, produced the decisive moment 18 minutes later. Cerezo pushed for an equaliser but could not find a way through, with Lucas Fernandes and Yuta Goke both going into the book late on.
The stats show a side that did more with less: Kobe had 44% possession but fired six shots on target to Cerezo's three, and created four big chances to none. They took one of them, and that was enough.
