Athletico secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Internacional in the Brasileiro Série A, thanks to two clinical strikes either side of half-time. Despite seeing less of the ball, they made their chances count.
Leonardo Caetano Silva opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, converting from Kevin Viveros' assist. Viveros then turned goalscorer himself on the hour mark, finishing unassisted to double the lead.
The numbers painted a clear picture: Athletico created seven big chances to Internacional's one and posted an expected goals tally of 2.92 against 1.15. Although Internacional edged possession at 54%, Athletico were far more incisive in the final third.
