Young Boys held off a spirited FC Sion comeback to win 4-2 in the Super League. After racing into a two-goal lead, they saw Sion equalise early in the second half before Samuel Essende struck twice to seal the points.
Lewin Blum opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and Alvyn Sanches doubled the advantage just before half-time. Jan Kronig pulled one back for Sion on the stroke of the interval, and Winsley Boteli levelled in the 56th minute. Samuel Essende restored Young Boys' lead in the 66th minute and added a fourth in the 73rd to complete his brace.
Despite having only 43% possession, Young Boys created more big chances (4-3) and registered nine shots on target compared to Sion's five. Essende's two goals were decisive, but goalkeeper saves (3 for Young Boys, 5 for Sion) and a high foul count (17-9) highlighted a scrappy contest.
