York United FC beat HFX Wanderers 4-3 in a lively Canadian Premier League game. Three goals inside the first 25 minutes gave York a commanding lead, and although Halifax twice reduced the deficit, York held on.
Ariel Almagro scored in the third minute, Ryan Telfer made it 2-0 on 10 and Steffen Yeates added a third on 25. Miguel Arilla pulled one back in first-half stoppage time, but Julian Altobelli's goal two minutes into the second half made it 4-1. Andre Rampersad's strike on 56 and Isaiah Johnston's goal on 77 brought Halifax back to 4-3.
The stats show York were out-shot: Halifax had 22 shots and eight on target to York's 15 and five, and they created six big chances to York's one. York still scored four times, had 52% possession and their goalkeeper made four saves. Yellow cards were shown to Oswaldo León, Lucas Olguin and Steffen Yeates.
