The first set featured five breaks, with Wei breaking for 5-3 before Wong broke back immediately and then sealed the set with a break at 7-5. Wong leveled the match by winning the second set 6-3, breaking three times, including a decisive break in the seventh game. Wei’s serve then collapsed in the third set: after saving a break point in the opening game, she won just one more game as Wong broke twice—at 1-3 and 1-5—to close out the match.
Wong’s first-serve points won jumped to 71% in the second set and 64% in the third, while Wei’s first-serve win rate fell to 44% and 43% respectively. The Hong Kong player also won 12 consecutive points in the second set, a stretch that effectively broke Wei’s resistance.
