Nosková defeated Kostyuk 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 at the US Open, taking the deciding set with a break in game 7. Kostyuk fired nine aces to Nosková's none, but Nosková converted six break points to Kostyuk's five.
The first set swung on breaks in games 1 and 2 and again in games 7 and 8 before Nosková broke in game 11 and served it out. Kostyuk levelled by winning four consecutive games after Nosková had built a lead in the second. In the decider, Nosková broke in game 5, Kostyuk replied immediately, and Nosková's break in game 7 proved enough.
Nosková finished with no aces, a 59% first-serve rate and fewer return points won than Kostyuk (37-45). Yet her six breaks, including the final one in game 7 of the third set, outweighed Kostyuk's five and decided the match.
