Himari Sakatsume rallied from a set down to outlast Hanna Wong 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 at the WTA 125K Vancouver. The Japanese player converted three of six break chances in the decisive set while saving two of three break points to clinch the victory.
After dropping the first set 6-2, where Wong broke at 3-2 and 5-2, Sakatsume turned the match in the second set with a lone break at 1-3. In the third set, the lead changed hands repeatedly: Sakatsume broke immediately for 1-0, Wong equalized at 3-3, Sakatsume broke again for 4-3, Wong leveled at 5-5, and finally Sakatsume broke for 6-5 before serving out the match.
Despite winning no service games in the first set, Sakatsume's resilience on serve in the decider stood out — she saved four of six break points, while Wong converted only two of her three chances. Sakatsume finished with one ace and one double fault across the match, compared to Wong's zero aces and two double faults.
