Everton de Viña del Mar beat Universidad de Concepción 3-1 in Primera Division after a rapid opening half-hour. Alan Medina put Everton ahead after three minutes and, although Luis Rojas levelled for the visitors in the tenth minute, the lead was back with the home side by the 23rd.
Nicolas Montiel restored Everton's advantage with a goal on 23 minutes, assisted by Emiliano Ramos, and Nicolás Baeza added a third on 32. The pattern was set inside the first half and the only late drama was a series of yellow cards, including two in the 90th minute.
The numbers pointed Everton's way: they had 59% possession, 20 shots to eight, eight corners to four and three big chances scored to one. Nicolas Montiel had a hand in two of the three goals, assisting Alan Medina and scoring the second himself.
