Sawangkaew M. defeated Udvardy P. 6-4, 6-3 at the US Open, turning a slow start into a controlled straight-sets win. The key was her return game: she converted four break points while saving three of five against her own serve.
Udvardy grabbed the first break of the match for 2-0 in set one, but Sawangkaew hit back immediately, levelling at 2-3 and then breaking again at 4-3 to close out the set 6-4. In the second set Sawangkaew moved ahead with breaks at 2-1 and 4-1, and though Udvardy pulled one back at 4-2, Sawangkaew sealed the match with a final break at 6-3.
Sawangkaew's first serve proved decisive: she landed 72% compared to Udvardy's 55%, and despite facing six aces from her opponent, she won 63% of points behind her own first delivery. She also won 39 receiver points to Udvardy's 22, underpinning the straight-sets victory.
