Tromsø IL took charge of this third qualifying round tie with a 2-1 win over CFR Cluj in Norway. Two goals inside the opening 48 minutes gave them the platform, and they rarely looked like surrendering it.
Leon Hien put the home side ahead after six minutes from Lars Olden Larsen's assist, and Isak Vadebu doubled the lead two minutes after the restart with Troy Nyhammer supplying the pass. Meriton Korenica pulled one back for Cluj in the 79th minute from Andres Sfait's assist, but Tromsø saw the game out.
The stats showed a one-sided contest: Tromsø had 69% possession, eight corners to none and six shots on target against Cluj's one. The visitors' late goal gave the scoreline a slightly tighter look, but the hosts were firmly in control throughout.
