Toluca beat Club Necaxa 3-1 in the Primera Division Apertura. Julián Carranza's red card in first-half stoppage time left Necaxa with ten men for the remainder, and Toluca capitalised on the extra man.
Edgar López put Toluca ahead on 29 minutes, with Jesús Gallardo providing the assist. Julián Carranza equalised for Necaxa on 42 from Alexis Peña's pass, but Everardo López restored Toluca's lead on 45 and Luis Jimenez added a third on 57.
Toluca dominated the ball with 75% possession and outshot Necaxa 25-9, although expected goals were closer at 1.51 to 1.37. Edgar López scored the opener and assisted Everardo López's goal, and Agustín Oliveros' second booking on 80 minutes reduced Necaxa to nine men.
