Club Nacional de Fútbol won 2-1 away to Tigre in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana playoff round, taking a commanding two-goal lead inside the first half-hour. Tigre pulled one back late but could not find an equaliser, as Nacional advanced on the night.
Maximiliano Gómez put Nacional ahead in the 11th minute, and Maximiliano Silvera doubled the lead in the 31st minute with an assist from Tomas Veron Lupi. Tigre pressed after the break and Santiago López pulled one back in the 82nd minute, assisted by Nahuel Banegas, but Nacional held on through a scrappy finish that saw six yellow cards.
Nacional dominated possession with 63% and completed 348 accurate passes to Tigre's 170, but Tigre had more total shots (9-7) and a slightly higher expected goals total (0.93 to 0.78). Nacional created only one big chance but scored it, while Tigre missed one of their two big chances, leaving the visitors clinical in a contest they largely controlled in terms of territory.
