Sunderland U21 swept aside Nottingham Forest U21 5-1 in Premier League 2, with Trey Samuel Ogunsuyi's hat-trick underpinning a commanding win. The hosts led inside two minutes and never looked back, despite the sides sharing possession evenly at 50 per cent.
Ogunsuyi struck again in the 50th minute to make it 2-0, and Jack Whittaker added a third three minutes later from Tom Proctor's assist. Ogunsuyi completed his treble in the 58th minute after Archie Lightfoot's set-up, Timur Tutierov made it 5-0 in the 81st minute, and Lamin Sillah pulled one back for Forest in the 85th from Josh Powell's pass.
Sunderland's superiority showed in the shot count: they put 13 attempts on target to Forest's four and won the corner count 6-3. The game was punctuated by four yellow cards, none of which changed the flow.
