Robert Strombachs beat Santiago Rodriguez Taverna 6-0, 6-2 in Szczecin, never facing a single break point across the match. He broke four times and lost just five points on his own serve to the Argentine's return.
The first set was a shutout: Strombachs broke in game two at 2-0, again in game four at 4-0 and closed it in game six at 6-0, winning six straight games. Rodriguez Taverna steadied briefly in the second, but the break in game four for 3-1 settled it, and Strombachs broke again in game eight to finish at 6-2.
The cleanest number is on return: Strombachs took 24 receiver points to his opponent's five, and Rodriguez Taverna won just one of 12 points behind the Latvian's second serve. Strombachs also hit four aces to none and served 81 per cent behind his first delivery.
