Skycity Stampede rolled to a 7-1 regulation win over the Canterbury Red Devils in NZIHL play, seizing control with a 3-1 first period and never relinquishing it. The Stampede carried a two-goal lead into the middle frame and kept building from there.
After that fast opening period, Skycity added two goals in the second and two more in the third to stretch the running score from 5-1 to 7-1. Canterbury was held off the board after the opening 20 minutes, and the Stampede closed the game with four unanswered goals.
The defining stat was the scoreboard: a six-goal margin earned entirely in regulation. Skycity's ability to stack goals in every period turned a competitive start into a one-sided finish.
