SK Sturm Graz earned a 2-0 victory over Heart of Midlothian in the UEFA Champions League Qualification Round 2, scoring twice in four second-half minutes. The Austrian side were clinical despite having just 36% possession, while Hearts dominated the ball but could not find the net.
The deadlock was broken in the 64th minute when Simon Seidl finished from Jon Gorenc Stanković's assist. Just four minutes later, Emran Soglo doubled the lead with an unassisted strike. A yellow card for Albert Vallci in the 61st minute briefly disrupted Sturm's rhythm before the quick-fire goals.
Sturm had 17 total shots to Hearts' 15, but nine of their efforts were on target compared to the home side's four. The visitors also created four big chances (scoring one, missing three) and forced Hearts goalkeeper into seven saves. Hearts' 64% possession and 377 accurate passes ultimately counted for little as Sturm took their chances.
