The decisive moment arrived on 54 minutes when Luís Asué set up Haoyang Xu, who finished to make it 0-1. Qingdao pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but despite registering 15 total shots, they managed only one on target, and Shenhua's goalkeeper was forced into five saves to preserve the lead.
Shenhua's efficiency was the standout story: they had six shots on target from 13 attempts, while Qingdao could muster just one from 15. Liu Junshuai was booked late on for Qingdao, but it mattered little as Shenhua held on for a battling away victory.
