Atalanta edged Sassuolo 2-1 in Serie A, despite being second best for much of the game. Giacomo Raspadori gave the hosts an early lead, but Sassuolo hit back and created the better chances before Nikola Krstović struck what proved to be the winner.
Raspadori converted Gianluca Gaetano's assist after six minutes to make it 1-0. Sassuolo levelled on 55 minutes through Cas Odenthal, only for Krstović to restore Atalanta's advantage ten minutes later.
The scoreline flattered Atalanta: Sassuolo had 22 shots to 14, an expected goals figure of 2.70 against 0.71, and four big chances to one, yet managed just the single goal. Atalanta took their opportunities and goalkeeper saves kept them ahead.
