Club América beat Santos Laguna 3-0, a scoreline that owed much to their sharp finishing. Santos created plenty, but the hosts took their chances when it mattered.
Henry Martín put América ahead after two minutes, finishing after Dagoberto Espinoza's assist. Brian Rodríguez doubled the lead in the 73rd minute, and a third goal without a credited scorer arrived in the 90th minute to wrap up the win.
The game was closer than the score suggests: Santos actually edged expected goals 1.72 to 1.65 and had three big chances, but missed them all. América scored two of their three big chances, and goalkeeper saves (6) kept Santos at bay.
