Santa Cruz took the points with a 2-1 victory over Barra in the Brasileiro Série C, building a two-goal lead in the first half and then holding off a second-half fightback from the hosts.
Matheus Vinicius da Silva opened the scoring for Santa Cruz in the 25th minute, and Diego Quirino doubled the advantage twelve minutes later. Barra responded early in the second half, with Renan Bernabé pulling one back in the 53rd minute to set up a tense finish.
Barra pushed for an equaliser after their goal but Santa Cruz's defence kept them at bay. The visitors had two players booked — Da Rocha in the 75th minute and Marcelinho for Barra in the 55th — but neither side could add to the scoring.
