Saint Louis City SC 2 beat San Jose Earthquakes II 2-0 in MLS Next Pro. Nighte Pickering scored both goals, the first in the 25th minute and the second in the 54th, to give the visitors the win.
Pickering opened the scoring in the 25th minute and then doubled the lead nine minutes after the restart, with Andrew De Gannes providing the assist on the second. That second goal took the sting out of the hosts, and Zach Zengue was booked for Saint Louis in the 56th minute.
San Jose had more of the ball and more shots, but Saint Louis were far more clinical, scoring from both of their big chances while the hosts missed their one clear look. Pickering's brace was the difference on a night when San Jose managed 15 shots but only two on target.
