Real Monarchs SLC came from a goal down to beat Vancouver Whitecaps FC II 2-1, with a late winner from Jesus Barea in the 89th minute. The visitors took the lead through Yeider Zuluaga but Monarchs equalised before half-time and turned the game around in the closing stages.
Yeider Zuluaga put Vancouver ahead in the 28th minute, assisted by Daniel Ittycheria. The lead lasted only 11 minutes as Felix Ewald levelled for the hosts from Luis Rivera's pass. The game looked set for a draw until substitute Jesus Barea scored the winner in the 89th minute, set up by Felix Ewald.
Monarchs dominated the stats with 55% possession and 20 total shots to Vancouver's 14, but both sides managed only four shots on target. The hosts also had 15 fouls to nine and a higher expected goals figure of 1.36 against 0.88, though they needed a late finish to secure the points.
