Progreso secured a 1-0 victory over Deportivo Maldonado in the Primera División, thanks to an early goal and a disciplined defensive performance that saw the visitors reduced to nine men.
The only goal came in the tenth minute when Agustín Ocampo found the net. The match then became increasingly fractious, with a series of yellow cards culminating in two sending-offs for Deportivo Maldonado: Ayrton Cougo received a second yellow card in the 59th minute, and Sebastian Cardozo was shown a red card in the 63rd minute after earlier being booked.
Progreso controlled the game after the early goal and never looked back, even as the match grew tempestuous. Agustín Ocampo, who scored the winner and was also booked, was the key figure for the home side.
