Plymouth Argyle progressed in the EFL Cup with a 2-0 win over Exeter City, both goals arriving in the 90th minute. Exeter played the closing stages with ten men after Ethan Sutherland was sent off in the 87th minute.
The breakthrough came when Alex Hartridge scored from Harvey White's assist. Aribim Pepple then doubled the lead, with Frederick Issaka credited with the assist. Charlie Cummins had been booked early on, and Sutherland had received a yellow card before his dismissal.
Plymouth dominated the statistics, holding 63% possession and taking 21 shots to Exeter's eight. They needed until the final minute to make that control count, though, with Exeter's goalkeeper making four saves to keep the score down.
