Fortaleza edged a topsy-turvy Copa do Brasil tie 3-2, with Lucas Emanoel's 88th-minute strike settling it. Twice Palmeiras came from behind, but Fortaleza's effectiveness in front of goal — they scored from both of their two big chances created — proved decisive.
Juan Miritello put the hosts ahead from Rodriguinho's assist on 34 minutes, but José López levelled with Felipe Anderson's help before the break. Rodriguinho restored the lead on 44, only for Murilo to equalise again on 61. Just as extra time loomed, Lucas Emanoel's finish from Maílton's pass won it for Fortaleza.
Palmeiras had 57% possession, 14 shots to 12 and completed 436 passes to Fortaleza's 301, yet it was Fortaleza who took their chances, scoring from both of their two big chances against Palmeiras' one. Maílton was booked in the 70th minute, but his assist for the winner capped a decisive contribution.
