Atlético Goianiense took control early and held on to beat Operário-PR 3-1 in the Brasileiro Série B. Two quick goals inside the first half-hour put them in command, and although Operário pulled one back just before the break, Marrony’s second-half strike sealed the win.
Gustavo Coutinho opened the scoring after just three minutes, finishing from Marrony’s pass. Marrony then turned provider again for Geovany Dos Santos Soares to make it 2-0 in the 31st minute. Operário responded on the stroke of half-time through Gabriel Boschilia, but Marrony made sure of the points with an 83rd-minute goal, this time assisted by Geovany Dos Santos Soares.
Marrony was the standout, with a goal and two assists. The stats show a tight contest – both sides had similar total shots (16-15) and expected goals (1.45-1.44) – but Atlético were far more clinical, putting seven shots on target to Operário’s three. Operário created four big chances but missed three, a wastefulness that proved costly.
