LA Galaxy beat New England Revolution 2-1 in MLS, taking the points thanks to two first-half goals and a late defensive stand. Marco Reus put them ahead in the 11th minute and Robert Taylor doubled the lead in the 33rd. Carles Gil pulled one back in the 90th, but New England could not find an equaliser.
Reus opened the scoring from inside the box in the 11th minute. Taylor then made it 2-0 in the 33rd, with Hirving Lozano credited with the assist. Gil's late strike in the 90th minute set up a nervy finish for the hosts, yet LA Galaxy managed the closing stages well enough to secure the win.
New England were the more active side for long spells, finishing with 24 total shots to LA Galaxy's eight and 52% possession. The Galaxy goalkeeper had to make six saves, while the visitors also completed 500 accurate passes. Despite all of that, LA Galaxy were more clinical, scoring twice from only three shots on target.
