The Montréal Canadiens defeated the New York Islanders 4-1 in regulation, powered by a three-goal second period that broke the game open. The win came at UBS Arena as Montreal improved its road record.
After a scoreless first period, Nick Suzuki opened the scoring at 15:00 of the second on a feed from Juraj Slafkovsky. Just 1:07 later, Ivan Demidov and Alex Newhook struck 28 seconds apart to make it 3-0. Casey Cizikas pulled the Islanders within two at 9:31 of the third, but Zachary Bolduc’s empty-net goal at 19:59 sealed the result.
Lane Hutson recorded two assists for the Canadiens, setting up Demidov and Bolduc. Montreal’s quick-strike offense in the middle frame erased any early tension and left the Islanders chasing the game the rest of the night.
