The turning point came at 4-5 in the second set, when Jianu broke Molleker for the only break of the contest, then served out the set to close the victory. Both players had held comfortably up to that moment, making the lone break all the more decisive.
Jianu's return game was the key difference: he collected 23 receiving points to Molleker's 14 while matching his opponent's 10 aces. He also landed 73% of first serves to Molleker's 59% and won 80% of points behind his first delivery.
