St.Louis City claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over LA Galaxy, built on a dominant first‑half display. Two quick goals before the break gave them control, and they never looked back despite a late consolation from the hosts.
Lukas MacNaughton opened the scoring in the 42nd minute from Marcel Hartel's assist, and Hartel doubled the lead just before halftime. Simon Becher made it 3‑0 in the 68th minute, again set up by Hartel. Troy Elgersma pulled one back for LA Galaxy in the 86th minute, but it was too little, too late.
St.Louis City had the better of the stats, with 53% possession, 14 shots (8 on target) and an expected goals figure of 2.08 to LA Galaxy's 0.98. Marcel Hartel was the key contributor, scoring once and providing two assists. LA Galaxy's Carlos Garcés was sent off after two yellow cards.
