Ilves secured a comfortable 2-0 win over IFK Mariehamn on home turf, with both goals arriving in the first half. The early yellow card for Foster Gyamfi did little to disrupt Ilves, who seized control and never allowed Mariehamn a way back into the contest.
Teemu Hytönen opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing after a pass from Jardell Kanga. Kanga then got on the scoresheet himself right on the stroke of half-time, making it 2-0 in the 45th minute and effectively settling the match before the interval.
Jardell Kanga was the standout performer, contributing a goal and the assist for Hytönen's opener. A flurry of second-half bookings — for Noah Nurmi, Oskari Multala and Emmanuel Patut — interrupted the flow but changed nothing about the outcome.
