Universidad de Chile beat Huachipato 2-0 in Primera Division, with both goals arriving in the second half after the visitors had been reduced to ten men. Maximiliano Rodríguez's 23rd-minute red card tilted the contest, and the hosts made their numerical advantage count after the break.
Eduardo Vargas opened the scoring in the 54th minute, converting Lucas Assadi's pass to make it 1-0. Marcelo Morales doubled the lead eleven minutes later, again from an Assadi assist, to seal the win for the home side.
The hosts dominated the match, holding 77% possession and managing 30 shots to Huachipato's six. Huachipato's goalkeeper made nine saves to keep the score down before Vargas and Morales finally found a way through.
