Fribourg-Gotteron beat HK Nitra 6-1 in regulation, pulling away with a three-goal third period after the game had been a one-goal affair for forty minutes. Six different scorers did the damage, and the hosts never trailed after the 11th minute.
Nitra actually struck first through Brett Pollock in the seventh minute, but Maximilian Streule tied it at 11 off a Jacob De La Rose feed and Henrik Borgstrom made it 2-1 on the horn of the first, assisted by Anthony Richard. Sandro Schmid's goal at 35 pushed it to 3-1, and the third period broke it open: De La Rose at 44, Samuel Walser at 49, Jamiro Reber at 53.
The cleanest number is the shutout after the seventh minute — Fribourg conceded once and then nothing across the remaining 53, while scoring six. De La Rose finished with a goal and an assist, the only multi-point man on the sheet.
