Anastasia Tikhonova beat Nao Hibino 6-4, 6-4 at the WTA 125K in Barranquilla, holding serve throughout and never facing a break she could not handle. She saved all three break points she faced and won all nine of her service games, while Hibino was broken twice from six break points faced.
The first set stayed on serve until Tikhonova broke in the ninth game at 4-5 to close it out. In the second she moved ahead early, breaking in game three at 1-2, and although Hibino saved four of the five break points against her in that set, one break was enough for Tikhonova to serve it out.
The serve told the story: Tikhonova hit seven aces to Hibino's two and won 36 of 47 first-serve points (77%) against 28 of 44 (64%). Overall she took 66 points to Hibino's 54, converting both of her break chances while Hibino converted none.
